Here’s the last in the series of Annual ICC Team Rankings Update for 2019 – a prospective view of Test Rankings after this year’s update cycle.

In terms of Team Rankings, there will be minimal possible change in it after this year’s update.
- Only two out of 10 teams will swap places.
- Test Rankings of 8 teams will remain unchanged.
- Only Australia will be replaced at number 4 by England – currently ranked 5 in the table.
India will remain the top ranked Test side in the world, followed by New Zealand and South Africa. No change is expected in the top 3. Similarly, no change is expected in the ranking of teams currently ranked 6 or lower.
In terms of Ratings, though, there will be some interesting developments in the table without resulting a change in the rankings of the teams:
- New Zealand, currently ranked number 2 Test side in the world, is expected to reduce the distance from the top ranked, India, to one-third of the current lead.
- West Indies is expected to reduce the distance between them and Pakistan, at number 7, from a gap of almost 11 rating points to just a single point.
- Australia is expected to be the biggest loser of this year’s update. Pakistan and India are expected to be the next worst effectees but they will manage to hold on to their current rankings.
At the top of the table, India will manage to preserve its pole position but they are expected to face a significant dent to their lead ahead of their closest challenger. At the moment, India are 8.26 rating points ahead of New Zealand. At the end of the update cycle, that gap is expected to be reduced to around 3 rating points only.
Similarly, South Africa, currently ranked number 3 in the table, are also expected to reduce their current gap, of almost 4 rating points, by half.
West Indies are expected to benefit the most from this year’s update as they are expected to gain more than 5 rating points. Although, there will be no change in their ranking, at the end of this year’s update, West Indies are expected to reduce the lead between them and the team above them, Pakistan, significantly. Pakistan are currently 10.8 rating points ahead of West Indies in the table. At the end of this year’s update, that lead will be reduced to just a single point.
Australians are expected to lose 6.12 rating points. Currently, they are fractionally ahead of number 5 ranked England who are expected to gain 1 point. As a result, Australia will slip to number 5 with a gap of 7 rating points with England at number 4.
Pakistan is expected to lose about 4.5 points but will manage to hold on to their current ranking thanks to their significant lead of 10+ rating points ahead of West Indies in the current table. Similarly, India is expected to lose more than 2.5 rating points but they will also manage to maintain their ranking thanks to their significant lead of 8+ rating points ahead of New Zealand.

2019 ODI Rankings Update - Not a lot to change
All set for ODI format to take over Cricketing landscape for the next couple of months. ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, the premiere ICC event, is almost here and with that, all eyes and attention shall shift to past and present of ODI format.
This year's Annual Update of ICC ODI Rankings couldn't have come at a more appropriate time - less than a month before the World Cup commences. 2019 Annual Update of ICC ODI Rankings is expected not to bring any significant changes, however.
In terms of rankings, the table is expected to see the minimal changes since the beginning of annual update process:

In this year's annual ODI update (among the top-12 ODI teams):
- Rankings of England, India, Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Ireland are expected to go through no change.
- South Africa expected to replace New Zealand at number 3 and West Indies to replace Sri Lanka at number 8.
- Bangladesh expected to lose 4.28 rating points while West Indies expected to gain 3.9
- India expected to gain 0.8 rating points while Pakistan expected to lose 0.9

Nothing could be more worthwhile than knowing the recent form and momentum of teams entering the marquee event in Cricketing calendar. ICC Team Rankings provide a good measure of it, that ranks the teams based on their performance in the last 36 to 48 months. ICC updates ICC Team Rankings once every year, to keep it current and it happens on May 1 every year.

To conclude, here's a quick summary of expected changes in ICC ODI Rankings after this year's annual update:
2019 T20I Rankings Update - Pakistan to write history, India to drop three places
Its that time of the year when ICC Team Rankings go through annual update.
In this year’s annual update of ICC T20I Rankings:
- Pakistan expected to reach the highest Rating ever achieved by any team in ICC Team Rankings in any format
- India expected to slip to 5th spot from 2nd spot
- Afghanistan expected to rise to 7th spot ahead of West Indies and Sri Lanka
- West Indies expected to 9th spot from 7th spot
In Current ICC T20I Rankings, Pakistan is leader of the pack, 13 points clear of the 2nd best T20I team in the world, India. Behind them, however, there is a cluster of teams separated by fractional points. 2nd Ranked India, 3rd Ranked England, 4th Ranked Australia and 5th ranked South Africa are separated by just 1.6 rating points between them. This tight-cluster is exactly where the most significant changes are expected to take place in the upcoming update.
In terms of Rankings, this is how this year’s annual update is expected to look:
In terms of Rating points, Pakistan is expected to write history. They are expected to touch 146 Rating points, a Rating total that no other team has ever achieved in any format. This will happen largely because of their performance in T20Is in the period between May 1, 2015 and April 30, 2016 getting expunged from the ranking system. They had earned an average rating of 103 points in 20 T20Is they played during this period.
Since May 2016, Pakistan has been in phenomenal form in T20I format. They earned an average rating of 154 in 8 games they played between May 2016 and April 2017 (whose weightage will be reduced to half as a result of this year’s annual update). In 9 games they played during May 2017 to April 2018, they earned an average rating of 150. Although, they lost more games during May 2018 to date than the periods earlier, they still managed to earn an average rating of 143 from the 16 games they played in this period.
Afghanistan is expected to be the next top gainer with a gain of 7.8 in their Rating Points.
On the other hand, West Indies is expected to lose 11.8 Rating Points, largely because of May 2015 to April 2016 period getting expunged from the system. In that period, West Indies won WT20 2016 and earned an average rating of 140 from the 8 T20Is. In May 2016-April 2017 period, they managed only 89 rating points from 8 games. May 2017 – April 2018 was comparatively a better period for them where they managed 113 rating points from 10 games. Their performance since May 2018 is horrendous, however, where they earned only 74 points from 12 T20Is.
