Usman Salahuddin becomes the 9th Pakistani to make his debut in the last 12 Test matches, in a period of roughly 19 months. Here are some more interesting stats about this recent overhauling of Pakistan Test side.


  • 8 debuts in 9 Tests since January 2017. Its happening for the first time since February 2013 – January 2014 when 8 Pakistanis made their Test debut (Nasir Jamshed, Rahat Ali, M Irfan, Ehsan Adil, Zulfiqar Babar, Shan Masood, Bilawal Bhatti, Ahmed Shehzad)

  • 7 of the successive Test Cap holders for Pakistan will play together in a Test match. Its going to happen for the first time since 1955

  • 7 players in a Test for Pakistan with the experience of less than 10 Tests.
o   It will be the first such instance since the team that took field vs WI at Port of Spain in 1993 included Javed Miandad(118 Tests), Rameez Raja(45), Wasim Akram(45), Asif Mujtaba(9), Waqar Younis(20), Mushtaq Ahmed(9), Moin Khan(9), Ata-ur-Rehman(1), Aamer Sohail(6), Inzamam-ul-Haq(5), Basit Ali(0).
o   Before that it happened vs England at Birmingham in 1992 when Pakistan Test side included Javed Miandad(112), Saleem Malik(66), Rameez Raja(39), Asif Mujtaba(3), Aaqib Javed(8), Waqar Younis(14), Mushtaq Ahmed(3), Moin Khan(5), Ata-ur-Rehman(0), Aamer Sohail(0), Inzamam-ul-Haq(0)
o   Before that, it happened back in 1982 where 5 Pakistanis (Tahir Naqqash, Rashid Khan, Saleem Malik, Saleem Yousuf and Ashraf Ali) made their debuts in 2 Test matches against Sri Lanka at Karachi and Faisalabad.
